WE'VE COME THIS FAR BY FAITH
The history of Triumphant Tabernacle Seventh-Day Adventist Mission preserves the hope of inspiring our present and future congregations. It is our prayer that they will reserve the ideals and dreams of those who labored for so long, enduring many hardships while working in this area of the Lord's vineyard. Indeed, God has been our shield and strength. He has guided us with counsel, blessed us by His providence, and inspired us by His spirit.
Triumphant Tabernacle SDA Mission was first known as "Three Dimension Ministries." Established in the late 1990s under the pastorage of the late Thomas Sanderson, Three Dimension Ministries was created as a small self-supporting church. At that time, there was a small but faithful band of worshippers, who all attended worship services regularly. In 2001, Pastor Jason V. Flemming, along with his family, joined the small but growing congregation and brought new life to Three Dimensions Ministries.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Pastor Sanderson realized that he could not effectively discharge the responsibilities of the church while he would be out of the country for an extended period of absence. Therefore, Three Dimension Ministries was on the verge of closing its doors. But, God had a plan and purpose for his people. Being led by the Holy Spirit, Pastor Jason Flemming, Elders Robert Andrews, and the late Vernon Gosine, concluded that the church doors would remain open. On July 8th, 2002, Trinity Temple Ministries of Seventh-Day Adventists was birthed, in which the following trustees signed the Certification of Incorporation: Pastor Jason V. Flemming, Elder Robert Andrews, Bro. Wilson Veira, Sis. Dillian Gosine, Sis. Sandra Waithe and Sis Natalie Debique. Pastor Jason V. Flemming was installed as the new pastor, and the church began to flourish. The word of God provided light to guide their path and love to inspire fellowship. Amid adversity, creativity blossomed, spirituality thrived, and determination exploded.
As a result of the new ministry at Trinity Temple Ministries, we've had many new believers added to our church roster either by way of baptism, the profession of faith or by transfers of membership from other congregations. We were privileged to have members with varying professional skill sets either join our congregation or become consistent worshippers with us while contributing to the ministry. The membership steadily increased, and recognizing the need for a larger church home, we moved to a new building. Our sole mission was to tell the world of Christ crucified and to proclaim the Three Angels Message.
During the next decade, the church experienced several changes in leadership and co-leadership. We were blessed to have Associate Youth Pastors, Shurland James, and Paul Riley, who implemented Wednesday Night Live- a joy to attend. Under Pastor Jason V. Flemming’s dynamic leadership, vision, and zeal to do the work of the Lord, we initiated a host of specialized programs and outreach ministries designed to enhance and enrich the spiritual and educational growth of our church and community. We had a healthy eldership, a thriving and active youth presence, and various ministries. Our very own church building was purchased in the year 2007, located at 548 Linden Boulevard in Brooklyn, NY. By God’s grace, our church’s membership continued to thrive and prosper. The church motto at this time was “Onward Forward, Backwards Never."
In the year 2013, Pastor Jason V. Flemming and his family accepted an offer to be the Director of Psychology for the Government of Grenada. Not wanting to leave Trinity Temple Ministries without support, he was led by the Holy Spirit, to place us under the care of the Northeastern Conference of Seventh Day Adventist. On June 8th, 2013, our First Senior Pastor, Dr. David McKenzie, was installed. During that time, he was also Pastoring Lighthouse Tabernacle SDA. In October of the same year, we officially changed our name under the NEC to Triumphant Tabernacle Seventh-Day Adventist Mission. A name, when chosen, denoted the obstacles that we have overcome, always remembering that, in the midst of it all, Christ was still present. We were on the move under Pastor McKenzie’s leadership.
In November of 2013 Triumphant had to leave 548 Linden Boulevard. As we went through what seemed to be our 'wilderness experience,' we began to encounter many challenges — mainly relocating consistently in an attempt to find a temporary home. However, through it all, God held our hands every step of the way. David McKenzie’s tenure concluded with us on November 30th, 2014. During that time, we relocated to 4015 Church Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, which has since been our temporary worship site.
On May 30th, 2015, our Second Senior Pastor was Installed; Pastor Phillip M. Wesley II, who (during that time) was also pastoring New Dimension SDA. His innovativeness, unique style of leadership, and love for young people were much to be admired. His down-to-earth spirit made him relatable. Pastor Wesley’s tenure with Triumphant concluded on December 31st, 2016. In 2017, our Third Senior Pastor was installed on January 28th, Pastor Donette Blake, who also shared a pastorship with New Dimension SDA. Her style of leadership propelled us to rise higher in our walk with God daily. She brought a sense of empowerment to the women of Triumphant and was a strong, mighty woman of prayer. Her time with us was short, but her impact made a lasting impression. Her tenure concluded with us on December 31st, 2017.
Triumphant did not know what God had in store as He was preparing the way for us. It was on June 9th, 2018, that our fourth Senior Pastor was installed; Pastor Clifford Manie, who also holds a pastorship at Staten Island SDA. With his hand in God's hand and taking instructions from the master-builder of all time, he stepped out in faith into untested waters to lead Triumphant to a place of stability, hope, and transformation; with the aim of spreading the gospel to a dying world, educating those in darkness and expounding light to the children of Light. His tenure concluded with us in December 0f 2022.
In February of 2019, God blessed us with an Associate Pastor, Anthony O. James. Pastor James is a faithful, hardworking Christian who held the interests of Triumphant at heart. Thus he spent much of his time with little ones, the youth, and adult members. Pastor James’ tenure with us concluded in April 2020.
On January 7th, 2023, our fifth Senior Pastor was installed, Pastor Emmanuel Oduro-Bediako, who (as of February 3, 2024) also holds a pastorship at Calvary First Nigerian SDA. Pastor Bediako is a devoted spiritual leader with a passion for serving the community. With his many years of experience and service in ministry, he has guided our church through times of growth, change, and spiritual renewal. His compassionate heart, biblical wisdom, and vision for outreach has inspired countless individuals to deepen their faith and serve others within their congregation and community.
Under Pastor Bediako’s leadership, our church has:
Fostered a culture of inclusivity and love
Developed innovative programs for youth, families and community outreach
Strengthened partnerships with local organizations and community leaders to serve those in need
Provided spiritual guidance and support during times of crisis
